Spooky Halloween Activities around Newport
October is here, which means it’s time to start planning your Halloween festivities! The Fortress of Nightmares
For a one-of-a-kind Halloween events, the Fortress of Nightmares at the centuries-old Fort Adams in Newport offers two separate attractions: The Tunnels of Terror Haunted Maze, a terrifying walk through the dark tunnels of the Fort; and Fortress Ghost Hunts, where visitors take in a legitimate paranormal investigation. General admission gives you access to all attractions including the Tunnels of Terror, one round of Zombie Laser Tag, the Officer’s Quarters Ghost Hunt, Killer Film Fest, Beer Garden and Food Court. Kids Fun House at Fort Adams
Younger children who don’t want the full horror themed experience, can attend the Kids Fun House located inside the Fort Adams Visitors Center while the adults enjoy terrors inside the Fortress of Nightmares. The on hand staff will be available help them decorate cookies, Halloween crafts, pumpkin carving and go trick-or-treating at the Fort Adams jail to get in the Halloween spirit. The Kids Fun House will be open from 6-10 PM.

Old Town Ghost Walk
This Newport based ghost tour departs nightly rain or shine from Thursday-Monday , 8-9:30PM now through October 31st. Lantern-led and less than one mile long, the ninety-minute tour will cover ghost ships, graveyards and everything in between. Stops at Trinity Church and the Vernon House are two of the tour’s most harrowing highlights. Purchase your ticket here.
Halloween Movie Night and Parade at Ballard Park
In the spirit of Halloween tradition, Ballard Park will host a Halloween movie night on Saturday, October 17th. The event will feature two FREE movies: one for kids, and one more thrilling option for adults. In addition to the screening of two movies “Hotel Transylvania” at 6PM and “ Young Frankenstein” at 8 PM, the free evening will include a Halloween costume parade and contest, a meet and greet with members of the Newport Fire Department and a give-away of daffodil bulbs by Newport Daffodillion.
